I call these tips as the "Myth behind Successful Hair Dyeing at Home"!
These 10 home hair coloring tips are a powerhouse of information and are comprehensive enough to enliven the home hair color genius inside you.
In fact, these are 10 questions you should ask YOURSELF before hitting all the way on your venture CHANGE.
The questions here may sound like nothing new or trivial. But think over them, time and again and you will discover everything NEW!
Home Hair Coloring Tips - Question to Ask Yourself: "Who Am I?"
Define yourself first! Your lifestyle, hobbies, skin tone, eye color and the current style of your haircut are a few good pointers.
Once you come up with a picture of you, imagine the colors you are thinking to wear over that person who is exclusively YOU!
This is your best foot forward in the dyeing scene! Your blueprint of colors begins here and must proceed from there.
Pondering over it you simply ensure a healthy EMBRYO of coloring, inside you.
Home Hair Coloring Tips - Question to Ask Yourself "What's my motivation behind changing colors?"
Before you choose a color that you may have a hard time to reverse, make sure that YOU can personally "rock it" first.
Well… I don't really know what your motivation is behind "changing your colors"!
No matter where your motivation springs from, you must take color things "personal".
To keep things simple, changing colors may not be a good idea at all… Too many color girls out there, fail to realize that what looks good on someone else may not look good on them.
You can't just go to the drugstore and get a box of dye and expect wonders in 45 minutes!
When it comes to hair color and spinning the hair color wheel, what works for someone may leave you dateless for the next few weekends.
Home Hair Coloring Tips - Question to Ask Yourself "What do I want to change in me?"
Think of the change as a whole and not just the hair color. The hair color must change to help you enhance your overall persona.
The irony is that while choosing hair color, a color itself is the last thing to look at, but once you get a color on your head it's the first thing people look at!
Having said that, to color for good you must imagine yourself as a life size portrait rather than just the head shot.
In that portrait of you, try to find out and fill in the missing piece hair color wise. If you think this way then don't be amazed to see the hot new hair color you were craving for, look more like a PATCH than the missing piece.
Maybe all you need are a few highlights or low lights to refresh your looks, rather than a U turn to a whole new hair color.
Home Hair Coloring Tips - Question to Ask Yourself "What do I want to change to"
Assuming that you have succeeded in finding out the right hair color for you and it is exactly what you want to change to. Now, don't forget to know what your new color is? Nevertheless, know your current hair color.
You need to be precise while doing so! The colors will obey you only if you know their names (levels) on the hair color chart.
They will defy you and badly so if you call them peachy, ashy, caramel or auburn. The worst they will behave when you simply imagine them in your mind.
They demand respect and only their real names according to their official levels, cut it for them for good.
Ignore this tip, color your hair and see what happens! The colors (new and original one) will shout out loud even when you decide to maintain the peace.
Home Hair Coloring Tips - Question to Ask Yourself "How far can I go on my own?"
"I Hate My New Hair Color"… Ever heard somebody telling that to you? Chances are your friend probably tried to color her hair and it looks horrible. (I wish it's not you telling that!)
Example: A blonde wants to go black. All she needs to do is to purchase a box of dark black hair color… Right…? Wrong! Why?
Blonde hair contains yellow pigments that first need to be neutralized with the opposite color on the wheel i.e. purple (violet).
The black box she purchased and was about to dye with will turn her head into a muddy green mess and herself into a kin of queen Ursula from "little mermaid" if that's what she imagines about her head of hair!
So what? Well… Basically, when it comes to hair coloring you can't go from 0 to 60 in just one do it yourself box of hair color.
You are going to need a professional to make any drastic of a change for you.
In short, there are limits on how far you can and you should go on your own.
Now, where to draw the line? Wherever you feel something is beyond your comprehension… and it's better if you feel so, before opening the box.
For the sake of length, tips are chopped into 2 parts. Continue reading the remaining five essential tips for dyeing on the next page, home hair coloring tips part 2.
